Netwaves is proud to present you the whole concert on video. The quality though is a bit poor, due to beginner's unluck (low resolution of image and overpowered sound). But it's a nice memory, and a good promo for our next concert 30 april.

Wat hebben doedelzakbouwers, Beierse huwelijksmuziek en een jazzdwarsfluit met Netwaves te maken? Je komt het allemaal te weten in Netwaves 23. De uitzending brengt een muzikaal verslag van Netwaves live v.0.3 met muziek en interviews van Strekie, Icteder, Kyran en Akwalek en staat na enkele technische problemen eindelijk online!

De derde episode elektronika voldeed weer aan alle verwachtingen. Zelfs de grote baas van electrobel, Zark kwam een kijkje nemen naar de keur van artiesten die uit deze community zorgvuldig uitgekozen worden door Akwalek (aka Green Things).
Akwalek begon de avond met zijn knappe evenwichtsoefening tussen verwrongen melodieën en gebroken ritmes. Deze muziek verdient een later tijdstip. Je begrijpt wat ik bedoel als je naar de einddag van het Stuk komt op 24 mei, waar Akwalek nog eens live speelt in de Scorpio-zaal rond 01:00 's nachts.
Strekie speelde een thuismatch met z'n mooie melancholische emotronics ala DoF. Soms klonk het een beetje braaf, maar Strekie verzekerde ons dat dit een tussenfase is naar een stevigere set in de toekomst.
Icteder verraste het publiek met een zeer stevige intro, die halverwege spijtig genoeg een beetje verzandde in een twijfelende set. Maar naar het einde toe vond Icteder de pedalen terug en gaf een stevige outro. Namen zoals Autechre en Aphex Twin vielen bij de kenners, en dat zijn absoluut geen scheldwoorden ;-)
begon z'n set met ironische knipogen naar R&B en aanverwanten om langzaam over te gaan naar een meer ritmische act, om later uit te monden in een zeer stevig beatfestijn. Het publiek was toen al serieus aan 't meeswingen.

Versie 0.4 komt eraan op 30 april, same place, same time. Hou ook 25 mei vrij.
Maandag 26 maart komt er een audio verslag in Netwaves @ Radio Scorpio (106 FM Leuven en omstreek). Dinsdag staat dit verslag op het moederschip. Het hele gebeuren is gefilmd met een chatcameraatje. De hele film wordt in een gecomprimeerde versie op archive.org gezet, en er wordt een YouTube versie gemaakt.


Netwaves live dankt de muzikanten, de mensen van het Depot en die van Netwaves (radio). Ook nog een hoera voor electrobel.

De blog van onze Nederlandse vriend Marco Raaphorst is gisteren bij de Dutch Bloggies uitgeroepen tot "Beste Muziekweblog". De jury vond oa.: "Zijn blog is een en al muziek. Vinger aan de pols houdend over relevante ontwikkelingen zoals Creative Commons en DRM. Geopinieerd over de actuele stuiptrekkingen van de industrie. En creatief in het toepassen van moderne webtechnieken."
Netwaves had in februari nog een gesprek met de man: je kan het hier nog eens herbeluisteren.

Netwaves DJs Green Things and @@urk were turning the tables @ Machine on monday. Netwaves brings a nice piece dub, house, minimal, tech, etc. in Episode 22 [nws022].

My webmaster Discofreq has created a very neat feature: from now on you can search by style in my database of approx. 9000 netlabelsongs (and growing every day). Just try the link on the left in the topbits section, or click this link. Another change we made is the filtering in the top 100: to make it more dynamic, we changed the lifecycle of the songs from eternal to 6 months, meaning that after 6 months you have a completely renewed top 100. For an eternal top 100, please consult yourself ;-)

Maandag 19 maart 20:00 spelen deejays Green Things en @@urk in Der Machine op de wekelijkse 'Milk on Monday'. Beide heren mogen stilaan de netlabelspecialisten van België genoemd worden. Projecten: netlabelism, Netwaves en Netwaves live, u allen gekend uiteraard, of ge waart het niet hier aan het lezen ...

Onze Noorderburen geven er weer een lap op: Simuze (te vergelijken met het belgische electrobel) brengt een tweede gratis compilatie electronische muziek uit. Lees eerst het persbericht en ga dan naar de downloadkade.

"With netlabels the connection between artist and listener is less polluted. If somebody tells you he likes your song, well, that's a thrilling thing, that's what it's all about", explained DoF to Netwaves in our newest episode. We talk about his influences, music, his release a year in waiting and much more.

DoF makes sad electronics and more recently also changed to folktronics (think about bands like Tunng). Besides the interview Netwaves 21 explores these two styles and brings a nice dreaming and easy listening-soundtrack...
