Creative Commons renewed its Press Kit webpage, where you can find the icons, logos and buttons for all kinds of CC-licenses in these formats: svg, eps and png. They're released under the BY license:

Sound Copyright says: "Copyright in sound recordings currently lasts for 50 years. Yet the recording industry continues to demand that this term be extended. ... But term extension would be an injustice to European musicians and musical culture, and may harm our economy.
... Copyright is a bargain. In exchange for their investment in creating and distributing sound recordings to the public, copyright holders are granted a limited monopoly during which are allowed to control the use of those recordings. This includes the right to pursue anyone who uses their recordings without permission. But when this time is up, these works join Goethe, Hugo and Shakespeare in the proper place for all human culture – the public domain.
... Seminal soul, reggae, and rock and roll recordings will soon be freed from legal restrictions, allowing anyone (including the performers themselves and their heirs) to preserve, reissue, and remix them.
... Major record labels want to keep control of sound recordings well beyond the current 50 year term so that they can continue to make marginal profits from the few recordings that are still commercially viable half a century after they were laid down.
...

If you agree that copyright term on sound recordings should not be extended past 50 years, please, sign this petition today. Together, we can defeat copyright term extension."

Sound Copyright is an initiative by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the Open Rights Group (ORG).

Vorige zondag 17 feb. heeft netlabelism.net nog eens reklame gemaakt voor de alomtegenwoordige goede muziek die onder Creative Commons wordt uitgebracht. Op uitnodiging van Indymedia.be, verzorgde embe de muziek gedurende haar opendeurdag.

Over die dag bericht Indymedia.be: "Een honderdtal mensen kwam zondag een kijkje nemen op de opendeurdag van Indymedia.be. Ze konden er in primeur kennismaken met het boekje “Burgermedia: opmars, ervaringen, bedenkingen”, luisteren naar een uiteenzetting van Nico Carpentier en meer te weten komen over de plannen van Indymedia.be."

Marco Raaphorst kondigt nieuw project met mediamaker Bert Kommerij aan. CC nl blogt: "Evenals bij het eerder succesvolle project Flick Radio van Kommerij zal de online fotocommunity Flickr centraal staan. Media Me is namelijk op flickr een groep waar foto’s te vinden zijn, waarin de mens en media centraal staan. Mensen kunnen eigen gemaakte foto’s over ‘mediaconsumption’ aan de flickrgroep toevoegen.

Het project is een interessante uitdaging voor Kommerij, te meer omdat hij als mediamaker bij de ‘traditionele’ publieke omroep betrokken is.
Een leuke bijkomstigheid is dat het media project in de toekomst onder een Creative Commons licentie gepubliceerd zal worden. Op deze wijze tracht de maker Creative Commons steeds meer onder de aandacht te brengen bij de publieke omroep."

A great breakthrough in the music business model: music band "Tone" under contract with the Danish collecting society "KODA" releases an album with a CC license.
CC blogs: "Today marks the release of "Small Arm of Sea", the debut album by female indietronica singer, songwriter and producer Tone (Sofie Nielsen). While the album itself is unique in its style and substance, seamlessly combining abstract electronic composition techniques with a clear pop sensibility, it is equally as intriguing in terms of distribution.
Small Arm of Sea is available both in stores (on both combined CD/DVD w/ visuals or vinyl) and online (for free, non-DRM download), with physical copies containing the text “Copy this album for your friends, please!”."
"If people enjoy what I do, they can support me by buying the record in the stores. This will give them the video part as well. But otherwise I hope they will download the music for free just to check out what I do," Sofie Nielsen smiles.

Nederland maakt plannen op het gebied van auteursrecht op regeringsnivoo: "Ministers Hirsch Ballin (Justitie), van der Hoeven (EZ) en Plasterk (OCW) een beleidsbrief over het auteursrecht naar de Tweede Kamer gestuurd, waarin zij hun plannen op het gebied van auteursrecht toelichten.

In deze brief wordt op drie plekken op de rol van Creative Commons binnen het auteursrecht ingegaan (een keer in de brief zelf en twee keer in de bijlagen)."

Nature Publishing Group goes Creative Commons: " In the continuing drive to make papers as accessible as possible, NPG is now introducing a 'creative commons' licence for the reuse of genome papers. The licence allows non-commercial publishers, however they might be defined, to reuse the pdf and html versions of the paper. In particular, users are free to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt the contribution, provided this is for non-commercial purposes, subject to the same or similar licence conditions and due attribution."

Auteursrechten, iedereen heeft ermee te maken: men koopt een boek of CD, bezoekt een film of organiseert een concert en men betaalt, willens nillens, een deel auteursrechten. Auteursrechten zijn een belangrijke bron van inkomsten van kunstenaars. Anderzijds wordt er bij de organisatoren van allerlei culturele manifestaties wel eens gesakkerd over de auteursrechten die ze dienen te betalen, zeker kleinere organisatoren voelen het beslag van auteursrechten als een bedreiging voor hun voortbestaan.

Het Masereelfonds en de vereniging van kleine podia - twee organisaties van wie de achterban regelmatig auteursrechten dient op te hoesten - organiseren een studiedag over auteursrechten. Dit op zaterdag 15 december vanaf 14u. Met deskundig commentaar, getuigenissen en debat tussen voor- en tegenstanders van auteursrechten proberen we een genuanceerde kijk te geven op de problematiek. Maar er is ook aandacht voor bewegingen als ‘creative commons’, waarvan vele leden kunstenaars bewust afzien van hun auteursrechten.

CC says: "The Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), a public radio and television broadcaster belonging to Germany’s national broadcasting consortium ARD, announced today that they will begin to use CC licenses for some of their programs.

The political comedy show Extra 3 and critical media magazine Zapp will release segments of their program under a BY-NC-ND license as part of a pilot project lasting for six months."

Voor een meer technische uitleg, lees deze CC blog. Moest iemand goesting hebben om deze update in het kort en in het 'Vlaams' uit te leggen, ik hou u absoluut niet tegen, daarvoor dient het commentaar veldje. Wat er zeker veranderd is, is het logootje: zie bvb. onderaan deze pagina.
