Scorpio-DJ contest

The winner of the Scorpio-DJ contest in cooperation with 'het Depot' and 'Kulturama' has been announced. The jury chose the mix of pq(prime) with his own minimal and progressive house tracks as the winning mix.
Normally pq(prime) would have performed live as part of ‘Netwaves live‘ at the Kulturama festival in Leuven (Belgium), but unfortunately he had other musical obligations. Instead of the winner, we welcome other two participants of the contest: Cpt. Interceptor and Pleksi & Kronoz.

As promised, you can find the release on the famous mix-netlabel Sonic Walker. We would like to thank Sonic a lot for the hosting and releasing.

Wednesday 5 dec. 20:00 it's time again for 'open mic' @ Het Depot. One of the performers is Jamison Young, an Australian singer song writer who lives now in Oslo. Tomorrow, wednesday, he starts his Belgium/Austria/Swiss/Czech Tour. He also comes to Leuven because he is a big fan of Creative Commons and because the other CC fan 'netlabelism.net' is residing over here, so we're gonna have a chat. Well, I'm curious to meet/listen him ...

Nieuw!
Vlaanderen heeft nu een digitaal muziekarchief, tenminste een databank met info over vinyl en cd-releases. Hoe ge aan de muziek kunt komen, is niet duidelijk ;-). Allee, ge kunt u nu blind gapen op technische fichkes. Maar wat mij toch heeft gecharmeerd, is dat ze hun huiswerk heel degelijk hebben gedaan. Ik heb de test gedaan met de beste nederlandstalige plaat van de laatste 30 jaar, en ze zit er begot in, met foto en al (voor de muziek moet ge bij mij zijn, ik heb ze handmatig zelf gedigitaliseerd). Trouwens, de hoofdtitel is 1000 titels, maar elk exemplaar (oplage van 1000) had nog eens een aparte titel, de mijne heette "Télépop", die van de jeugdklub "De impressario's van de avant-garde". Enig geklik verder komen we zelfs het nevenprojekt van de Kommeniste tegen, The Plant, maar van hun ander projekt, de Priesterarbeiders, geen spoor, maar tja, die had ik van horen zeggen ...

De volgende test heeft me dan helemaal van slag gemaakt, ik dacht dat dit kleinood voor de eeuwigheid vergeten zou zijn, maar niet dus: B9. Probeer zeker "Rel Rex" met "Program" ergens vast te krijgen, vooruit voor z'n tijd, en blijkbaar een van de eerste uitspattingen van Klootperw ...
Deze verzamelaar wordt deze herfst zelfs heruitgebracht. Wat een wondere wereld!

Simuze wedstrijd

Simuze.nl organiseert in samenwerking met New Ground Studio in Maarssen een wedstrijd waarbij muzikanten gratis opnametijd, promotie en een optreden kunnen winnen. De enige voorwaarden zijn dat de muzikanten lid van Simuze zijn, dat zij minimaal twee nummers op Simuze hebben staan en dat zij zich voor de wedstrijd aanmelden. De uiteindelijke winnaar wordt bepaald door een jury van muziekliefhebbers en experts, waaronder Ard Boer (Rara Records) en Lykle de Vries van de Lopend Vuur indiepodcast, Marten Timan (bassist We vs. Death en mede-oprichter Simuze) en Theo Ploeg (popjournalist muziekblad OOR en hoofdredacteur cut-up.com).

De winnaar krijgt drie dagen opnametijd (inclusief afmixen) bij New Ground Studio voor een demoproductie. Deze demo zal als download cd op Simuze worden gepromoot en de winnaar ontvangt 50 cd-r's van de demo, inclusief artwork. Daarnaast wordt de winnaar uitgenodigd om op de lancering van de nieuwe versie van Simuze op te treden. Muzikanten kunnen zich tot en met 19 september aanmelden. De winnaar wordt op 12 oktober bekendgemaakt.

nog een knappe nederlandstalige muzieksite gevonden: homerecording.be. Ze omschrijven zichzelf als: "Community voor muzikanten die onafhankelijk hun eigen muziek produceren in een homestudio. Nederlandstalige info over geluidstechnieken, audio-gear nieuws, freeware audio-tools, een forum en links naar al wat met homerecording verband houdt." Binnenkort (juli) komt er een compilatiealbum uit met werk van homerecording.be artiesten.
Wat de site interessant maakt, is dat ze op een eenvoudige manier uitlegt hoe je een CC-licentie aanvraagt. Het artikel is geschreven door 'Art of Empathy', die recent het bekorende album 'Evening Sessions' heeft uitgebracht op het Italiaanse dark-wave netlabel Ekleipsi.
